The fear of coronavirus is creating serious panic among sea food business operators in Nigeria. There was a reported closure of an Abuja-based Panda Supermarket, earlier today by men of Federal Competition and Consumers Protection Commission, FCCPC , early today January 29,2020.

It was alleged that the firm imported sea food from China, whose nutritional integrity could not be granted. And as such, authority of FCCPC condoned off the premise to avoid coronavirus epidemic in Nigeria.

Matecfact got in touch with an official of FCCPC, who preferred to does not want to be named cos he is not authorized to speak, and he confirmed sealing of the Supermarket. According to him, the agency was at the premise last two weeks ago and this morning, closure was made to safeguard health of Nigerians saying, diligent investigations was still ongoing.

 

Our effort to get in touch with Management or staff of Panda Supermaket proved abortive as none of the numbers provided, went through. As at the time of press, Panda Supermaket is under lock and key.

 

VERDICT

It is TRUE that Panda Supermarket, Abuja is sealed due to suspected importation of sea food from China.
