The World Health Organisation, WHO has issued a warning that eating garlic and nose rinsing with salt water will not guard aginst coronavirus infection.

In a statement released on Monday, ‘There is no evidence from current outbreak that eating garlic has protected people from 2019-nCoV’.

While refuting myth and rumours around the disease, WHO went further that some chemicals like bleach, chlorine -based disinfectants, solvents, 75 %ethanol, peracetic acid and chloroform could kill the infection on surface, they have a little or no impact on the vírus if put under nose or skin. These could be dangerous when in contact with the skin.

WHO enjoined countries to communicate, rapidly, regularly and transparently with their citizens.

As at February 2, 2020 coronavirus has been confirmed in 23 countries, with 14,557 cases glibally ,14,411 of which are in China. Also, 304 death are reported in China and one reported in Philippines.
